Bob Davis, 10/08/1935 - 03/07/2017

New Mills Farm, Bridge Street, Pembridge

Bob Davis was not only a consummate horseman; breaking, training and selling riding horses and ponies. He had a fantastic eye for correct conformation and could buy a pony 'in the rough' and turn it into a 'Cinderella' ready to win at the local shows. A true countryman he knew so much about wildlife: where to find an otter; how to catch bullhead fish for bait so that eels were on the menu; where the curlews were nesting; how to find gallini eggs; where to sit to watch the salmon coming up the Arrow and a mole catcher extraordinary. He loved the summer holidays when the Radnor Pony Club would bring their ponies to swim in the weir on the river Arrow which is located in what was Bob's meadow, always encouraging the children to go deeper and further and laughing fit to burst when everyone got wet.
