King’s Birthday Honours
The highest honour has gone to Herefordshire's Lord Lieutenant, Edward Harley, who becomes a CBE.
Previously awarded an OBE, Mr Harley has been awarded a CBE for services to heritage, charity, and the community in Herefordshire.
Dr. Shirley Evans - Dementia Care Champion
Pembridge resident Shirley Evans has had a busy time. In Coronation week she attended a Buckingham Palace Garden party. She’s just returned from Antwerp, where she went to an international conference on dementia support and helped a documentary film-maker explore the involvement of people living with dementia in community-based support.
RAF Hercules Retirement Flypast on Wed 14 June 2023: at 10.56
There will be a flypast by three RAF Hercules aircraft (ZH868, ZH870, ZH871 - Omen) on Wednesday 14th June 2023 over Shobden airfield to mark its forthcoming retirement at the end of June 2023. Flypasts to mark the end of an era for Hercules service and 47 Squadron.

Why Bats Matter and What We Can Do To Help Them
You are most likely to see a profusion of bats in Pembridge around 31st October. Their association with Halloween and witches has given bats a bad press and may lead many of us to shun them. But bats are an essential part of the food chain. They need our help to preserve them and their habitats.
Drones Over Pembridge
At 05.30am on Friday 9th June drones will be flying over Pembridge Church. This isn’t an alien invasion, stray missiles from Russia, nor thieves surveying the church roof so there is no need to call the police or be concerned.
St Mary’s Church Update
We had a busy weekend at the church. Saturday was all about bats! After an afternoon with Alison from the Bats in Churches team we gathered for a bat watch with Stuart, from the Herefordshire Mammal Group, as the sun was setting.
